This day trip offers the chance to experience a ride on the famous train of Pelion, which was built in 1895th. In this itinerary we can learn one of the most characteristic railway lines in the world to know (60 cm wide narrow gauge railway), a work by Evaristo de Chirico – the father of the famous painter Giorgio de Chirico – which is known for its high aesthetics and its architectural harmony.
We visit the traditional villages of Pelion, Vyzitsa and Milies.
Departure by bus from Agios Ioannis with the first stop in Tsangarada and Agia Paraskevi. Continue to Ano Lechonia. At the station of Ano Lechonia we board the train, and enjoy the one and a half hour adventure with the so-called “Mountzouri”, which means covered with black dirt( from the carbon). Having arrived at the railway station of Milies, we follow a path towards the village center.
Then continue by bus to Vizitsa, where we will have a traditional lunch and visit the traditional attractions of villages. Return in the early afternoon. The ride in Pelion can be combined with hiking. Start with a traditional breakfast in Agios Georgios Nilias and hike up to Pinakates.
